Hello!
Hi. I’m Brandon Gadoci and currently work as the VP of AI Operations at data.world where I was the first employee 8 years ago. I’ve had this blog for sometime and share both personal and professional content with a bend towards everything AI.
An update on building something new
As some of you may have seen, I'm using ChatGPT to help me create my personal website. It's a bit more complicated than it seems, as I'm not choosing to use a website builder. I'm actually creating a React App powered by a Headless CMS (Strapi) to do so. It's been great.
How Five Simple Questions Can Help You Develop Deeper Connections
When my kids were young, I came up with five questions to ask them because I wanted to know more about them. I didn''t read about these somewhere or have them given to me as advice. They just sort of happened. It turns out they are not just great for kids but great for just about everyone. Here is how it happened and why it''s important.
Leading with Purpose
I have been managing groups of people for a long time now, and although it was never an explicit goal of mine, my individual pursuits have placed me in this position time and time again. From herding cats for college projects to managing financial advisors, coaching soccer, and managing sales teams, I have developed a particularly specific opinion on what it takes to manage people
Balloons, Streamers, and Memories: The Power of Family Traditions
As parents, we often strive to create special moments and memories for our children, especially on their birthdays. From parties to gifts, there are countless ways to make the day memorable. However, our family has a unique tradition that started spontaneously and has become something that everyone looks forward to.
Into the Storm
I've been a fan of Rich Froning for a long time. I don't know him personally, and I have only met him once, but I've watched him emerge as a CrossFit star. He had a pretty embarrassing finish his first year at the games when he couldn't figure out how to do a rope climb.
One Minute No Trouble Zone
I cannot recall if I heard this idea from someone else or if I came up with it myself. However, regardless of its origin, it has proven to be effective, and I hope that by sharing it, it can be beneficial to others as well.
How Learning React and Strapi Might Have Reignited My Passion for Creating
Recently, I decided to update my web presence and portfolio by using React and Strapi. I had no idea what those things were until I asked GPT how I could create my own database-backed site so that I didn't have to settle for a website creator. I've long had the ability to write HTML and CSS and at least copy and paste Javascript, though the latter was first learned during the days when jQuery was still a thing.
The Power of New Connections: Stepping Out of Our Comfort Zone
In the fast-paced world we live in, we often find ourselves caught in the whirlwind of our daily lives. We tend to focus on our work, our families, and our immediate circle of friends, sometimes forgetting that there's a whole world beyond our small bubble.
Prompt Engineering
In the ever-evolving world of natural language processing (NLP), prompt engineering is becoming an inevitable skill to learn for the future. With advanced language models like GPT-3 at our disposal, we have the power to generate high-quality text-based outputs like chatbots, emails, and articles.
An Unqualified Guide: How to Address Feeling Under-Qualified in Your Current Job
As an early hire in a startup, you will likely find yourself in a position where you are under-qualified for a certain job. Strike that. You will probably find yourself under-qualified for several different jobs at the same time. Breathe.
Embracing Family Time While My Wife Travels for Work
As I write this, my wife is embarking on another work trip to the Philippines. It''s always hard to say goodbye, even after a decade of her making this journey. While I''m excited to spend some quality time with our kids, I can''t help but worry about her being on the other side of the globe.
Will the AI advancement leave room for my code aspiring son?
During dinner tonight, I asked my 14-year-old son and almost 13-year-old daughter if they had any updated thoughts on what they wanted to do when they grew up. Whenever we have dinner together, I try to blend fun with real questions. This is not new to them, and they are mostly uninterested in my efforts by now.
Create vs Compose
The concept of "creating" implies the act of producing something from scratch, while "composing" refers to the skill of putting together different elements to form a cohesive whole.
The future of information will be wild
The rise of AI has made it increasingly difficult to distinguish between real and fake audio and video content. With the widespread availability of sophisticated editing tools and deepfake technology, it’s becoming harder to trust the authenticity of the content we see and hear.
My Two-Week Adventure: Building a Personal Blog with Strapi, React, Netlify and most importantly Chat-GPT4
As my kids are getting older, I'm finding myself with more time on my hands. They are 13 and 14 now, so if you know, you know. I kid. They are amazing, and we have a great relationship. That said, their exploration of becoming adults doesn't involve me at times. Work keeps me extremely busy as well, but I've found myself wanting to get into something that is new and consuming to really give my brain a break from the usual things it''s occupied with.

The First 30 Days: How to Determine If You've Made the Right Hire
We all know that hiring is important. We design job descriptions, interview questions, and final presentations because of this. Sometimes the need to get someone in the seat can cloud our decision-making process. We can't let that happen, and here's why.
Campaign planning for marketing with advanced Google Sheets
In 2022, there is still a gap in marketing program and demand gen planning. There is no good software solution that effectively ties together LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads, HubSpot, and Salesforce for actuals and more. Any search for planning software results in stale spreadsheet templates.
The Skid
Last week my mother and father-in-law bought my son his first bike. You know, the two-wheel kind. He’s had a couple of tricycles and a scooter but it was the right time to move up the big leagues. It wasn’t long before he learned how to “skid”. Watching him perfect it made me happy, and made me think.
What Nintendo taught me about being a dad
About a week ago a co-worker sent me a .zip file of Nintendo ringtones that took me down memory lane. I giggled and reminisced as I heard the old but familiar sounds of Super Mario Bros., Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, Excitebike, and many more.
